Background in the World of Valon:

Most of the regular Cavalry regiments of the Catalucian Army died on the initial battlefields of the war against the Ferach Invaders. However some still remain and those who have are skilled troops, good at ambush and even in open battle. They attack when the time is right and they will give a fine account of themselves. In an army often starved of cavalry who know the local terrain many of the regular formations of Dark Elf Lancers are paid and provided for by Albion and it is no unusual sight to see them at the fore of Orcish troops on the march.

Uniform Details:

The uniform consists of a blue tunic, white breeches, a black shako or red caps, black shoes. Facing colours vary, yellow and red being common. Equipment is black and straps are white. Mount is typically white with a yellow horn and grey crest and beard. Some unicorns are black with yellow horn and grey crest.

Flintloque Stats: A Dark Elf mounted on Unicorn. Typically of average or better status. Officers have swords and or pistols as do other non trooper types. Troopers have a lance.

Dark Elf Lancers
51529

Craven cowards, damned craven cowards, hundreds of them on the dusty track. Muskets scraping on worn stocks along the surface of a narrow dirt road jammed with the 'brave' army of Catalucia.

These were the finest, or so they thought, that the Dark Elves could put in the field of battle and while they did win the occasional small encounter the Ferach crushed them again and again. What they really were was a shadow of the once proud and skilled forces of the Catalucian Empire.

Oh, they were proud still, but it was a false bravado, a shell without substance for they would run and run again all the while claiming no more than a minor set back, while their country was bled white by the invaders. Finally there would be nowhere else to run to; then what?

These thoughts were in the mind of every one of the six hundred regular lancers who were the single formation trying to proceed against the oncoming tide of retreating infantry. They were proud and they were still skilled, they were good. Good enough to make a difference.

True the Orcs and other of Great Britorcn had come to help push the Ferach from Catalucia, and true the despised Goblins of Al-Garvey were at their side. True they might prevail, or they might not. But one thing was as sure as the rising of the sun.

It would the these Dark Elves with their steel spears of death who would ride at the fore.

With a shout more of disgust than anger the Colonel of the lancers ordered his troops off the road and into the thin fields.  They rode hard towards the horizon smoke.

They were few against an Empire, but they were Catalucian and they would give a vicious account of themselves to prove the mettle of their people!
