The young gunner looked at his officer with awe, Capitani Spawnito knew his stuff alright. He watched as his commander walked to the next of the five new gunners and complemented him also on his efforts. It was going to be good serving in the Nepolise Artillerie was a Toad like Spawnito, he was a professional, he had been to Lyonesse and had dinner with non other than Mordred himself! Funny how when the Emperor had inspected the regiment last week at parade he did not recognise the Capitani. Spawnito had put it down to fatigue on the Emperors part.
Tomoio put down the 6 pound iron ball and picked up another dull cannon ball. The Capitani had offered to take him to Nappoly and introduce him to some important dignitaries, to make his career. The gunner was looking forward to it immensely, he had had to leave the Capitani to his two sisters while Spawnito ordered him to go back to the barracks and fetch him cigars. Now both his sisters were not talking to him and were both desperate to find bachelors to marry. The Capitani had put it down to 'later regrets', what ever that meant. But what an officer he was!
Capitani Spawnito had even made it possible for the entire division to see his own new gun crew at parade, he had cunningly made them walk for three hours around the streets of Amaffi before coming into the massive parade square from the rear exit. Apparently the crowd did not understand his genius and the rest of the Batterie was jealous of the extra attention they had got from the senior officers.
Tomoio was about to pick up another dull iron ball when the Major hopped up to the cannon with its feverishly working crew. He seemed angry. The Capitani took off his bicorne and bowed with a big smile on his mottled face.
"As you say Major I ave created for you the better shots eh?"
The Major was turning red with fury, he answered;
"I said to clean up the shooting of the crew, not this, you ave been doing this for seven hours!"
His red face reflected in the expertly piled super shiny cannonballs, that shone like spherical mirrors.
"Yes, Major they are now de best shottes in the regiment, you ave not seen better eh." He nudged the Major.
Yes life in Kartoffelburg would be easy with the Capitani, nothing could go wrong..
Todoroni Artillery Crew the 5o Artilleria Lasagna
On the sliding scale of rating gunners of the various nations in the Ferach Armee many, many gunners rank higher than those of the Nepolise, but not all. Superior to Landwehr and some other Confederation foot artillerie in skill the Toad crews handle their guns with care. Indeed some Todoroni artillerie crews polish their guns and paint fabulous designs on the barrels, style is more than shotte!
Uniform
The uniform consists of White tunics and breeches, a black bicorne and black shoes. Facing colours (cuffs, collars, etc.) are generally red. Equipment is brown, with equipment straps being of white leather.
Flintloque Information
In Flintloque a Toad gunner is treated as a Little Todoroni, they are armed with a Sword if an officer or with a small improvised weapon as well as their cannon.
Slaughterloo Information
The Todoroni Foot Artillery are classed as Artillery. They provide cheap but effective artillery units for Ferach Divisions.
