LEU01 3o Bella Manicotti

 WHO ARE THE BELLA MANICOTTI?

The Bella Manicotti are one of the several hundred regiments who make up the Nepolise Linea (Line Infantry) of the Todoroni who are all in the massed ranks of the mighty Ferach Empire ruled by the tyrant Emperor Mordred of the Armorican Elves. The make up of the Bella Manicotti. There are four battalions in the regiment, the characters of this set are troops from the 2nd battalion’s third company (hence the 3o).

The 3o are seasoned troops who are better in combat than their spawn mates in the Bella Lugosi Militia. They are also better armed carrying Ferach Muskets instead of inferior Standard Muskets. Led into the fray by Captain Giantodo Guseppi they have fought at the battle of Tel-N-Vera and elsewhere. The entire regiment serves in Catalucia at the side of the Elves in continual conflict with the Grand Alliance under the command of the Duke of Wheeling-Turn.

Being survivors the troops in Captain Guseppi’s section have picked up a free tricks on the way to where they are now. Indeed the commander of these troops and his immediate inferiors are actually really rather good soldiers. This takes many enemies by surprise as they are more used to firing into the air and seeing Todoroni run away! The 3o Bella Manicotti are making a names for themselves in the Armee.

THE NOTABLES
Here are the character descriptions and special rules unique to the notable Todoroni of the 3o Bella Manicotti; use these details along with those on page one for your scenarios to add depth. Those section members not listed here are treated as standard characters with attributes as listed on page one of the LEU01 insert.

Captain Giantodo Guseppi
The Captain is a victim of the effects of connections. That being that he has none to speak of! He is very proficient soldier who has been fighting in the service of the tyrant Emperor Mordred since even before Nepolise became an Elvish client state. Guseppi fought his way up from the ranks earning his commission while on assignment to the 9eme Regiment de Ligne before that battalion was dispatched to the Witchlands. He treats his Toads well and they love him for that but he does have a real loathing of self aggrandising Todoroni with little talent for war...this can be a real problem in the Nepolise Army!
The Captain possesses many skills but the one that is unique to him is the trait Scary Toad. This Nepolise Trait costs 3 Points. Scary Toad means that the character for a Todoroni is really quite terrifying in melee, he shouts and lunges and acts unlike the normal Toad. This means he had a natural +1 to his base Melee Modifier which is always applied first before all other mods and cannot be removed while in play.

Lieutenant Vito Percroki
Vito is a victim also but of his own making for Vito is a real sod, a thieving and murdering Toad who until he met Captain Guseppi was in danger of having his rubbery neck stretched on the gallows. Saved by the Captain from an impromptu hanging by the Punisaro Provosto Corps it is the case that Vito now trusts the Captain with his life. He has sworn life long loyalty and for several years now he has watched the Captains back in battle. The two get on well, the light and the dark of a slimy friendship.  Vito possesses a Skill unique to himself in the section; Real Bugger. This skill costs 5 Points. He can intimidate his fellows from a distance just by giving them a certain look, they know he will beat them insensible if they fail the Captain. As long as Vito is alive any section member (except the Section Leader) in Line of Sight (LOS) to Vito gains an automatic +1 to Discipline rating each Turn.

Operato Castolo Ravhoppit
Life can be cruel to those with an artistic bent, those like Castolo who love to sing. Singing is crucial to the Todoroni and means far more to them than the sound of drums and other instruments. A life of wealth and celebrity was Castolo’s in Nappoly until he made the mistake of giving some intimate lessons to the daughter of the city governor. Cast out the singer was forced to sign on with the Bella Manicotti as the regiment was leaving the city that very night. None would have the arrogant sod so he was thrust on Captain Guseppi. Castolo acts just like any other Section Singer (Musician) but his raw talent means that on top of the usual bonus when singing he also confers an extra bonus of +1 to Discipline to all Toads within 25cm of him as he touches their souls with his beauty.

Sergeant Mageli Petrolo
Not many have been to the exotic places of Valon but Sergeant Petrolo was once a cabin spawnling on the early voyages of the Nepolise Trading Company on its route to Tewan. While there he was taught the ‘way of the prancing nutter’ by an elderly monk. This makes the Section Standard Bearer a lethal weapon in melee combat. He acts as normal for a Standard Bearer but uses his pole as a spear also in melee.

Corporal Ugo Burntolly
Hiding in plain sight, that is the ability of Ugo, for he is a truly useless and idiotic soldier, not fit even for the ranks of the worst Todoroni Militia in defence of a dung heap. His commission was bought for him and really its only a matter of time before he is killed in action by the enemy or even by his own comrades!

Private Neuto Dazzalo
War is a Man or is that a Toad’s game, not a boys. Private Dazzalo is only just out of his training and is super keen to impress his commander. We all know its going to end badly but the question is can you keep him alive?
