‘Aye, Captain McLennox its the 85eme regiment all right. Here and no whur thur meant ta be at all.’
From the top of a small hill near the Al-Garvey border and the Dark Elf town of ‘Itchiscratchi’ a detachment of the 26th Light Dragoons watched the movement of the enemy.
While he though about his next act McLennox stroked the horns of his mount; the Hussars were low on the horizon, far lower than cavalry on horses, they were unseen.
What to do, what to do?
The answer was plain enough, he must warn the army to change its course of march.
With a silent wave of his hand and then putting the reins tightly around his furred wrist McLennox led his squadron back down the reverse slope of the hill and then they broke into a gallop.
Soon they reached the marching battalions of Orc infantry and reported the change in enemy direction to their commander, General Gordon. When told the General laughed harshly and called for maps of the region to be brought to him.
After a couple of minutes the old Rat gave his orders and as aides galloped to relay them Gordon turned to McLennox.
‘Am gonnie send the Greys ahied an you afore them. You lead those point eared scum right up the valley and on ta the points o’McDuff an the Greys. That ill show Sault!’
McLennox set his heels and rode. ‘Aye, Sir’.

26th Light Dragoons - The Joccian Hussars
Added to the Orseguards lists in the aftermath of the 45 Rebellion the 26th began its life on horse, but shortly after being sent to Gebrawlta during the Great Siege of Albion’s fortress island this changed. The cliffs and wall of ‘the rocke’ proved too much for the horses and it was decided to bring in several hundred Taffsean Rams as mounts. This worked out very well and often Joccian Hussars could be seen galloping along the walls and loosing carbine volleys at the Ferach.
Armed as Light Dragoons with sword and carbine the 26th are hailed as Hussars as they perform light cavalry screening for the main army. They are dressed in blue tunic, tartan kilt, black shoes and a black shako, facings are yellow with a sky blue jacket and brown furred collars and cuffs.
27th Light Dragoons - The Grouse Keepers
With the success of the 26th Dragoons at the Great Siege of Gebrawlta it was decided to raise another regiment in its image. Mounted on Taffsean Rams the 27th began its military career in Al-Garvey where it took part in the infamous Noportoe Dodo Raid. The 27th along with several battalions of regular Goblin infantry and some specialist troops were tasked with capturing or killing several thousand wild Dodo’s who had effectively laid siege to the city. With locals hiding behind barred doors the Joccians rode into the midst of the packs of Dodo’s and with flat sword herded them to the nets of the Goblins. Since then they have seen more action but this incident has left its mark; they will always be the Grouse Keepers!
Armed as Light Dragoons with sword and carbine the 27th perform light cavalry screening for Duddy Hill’s brigade in Catalucia. They are dressed in blue tunic, tartan kilt, black shoes and a black shako, facings are red with a sky blue jacket and brown furred collars and cuffs.
Background in the World of Valon
While the Joccian Greys are the famous heavy cavalry of Joccia and they justly deserve their reputation; the charge of the Joc’ Greys would not be up to much without knowing the location of the enemy. The task of scouting and harassment on the battlefield falls to the Joccian Hussars on their rams.
Fast and nimble with the traits of dragoons the squadrons of Hussars are armed with carbines as well as their swords which catches many Ferach enemies unawares. Regiments serve under Wheeling-Turn and also served with Surjon Moore in the Kooruna Retreat.
